Born November 8, 2002, in Rochester, New York, Ryan Francis Gustin has carved a distinctive path through his passion for engineering, leadership, and community service. Hailing from Penfield, NY, Ryan Francis Gustin Penn St has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in his academic and personal pursuits.

His academic adventures began at Plank Road North Elementary in Webster, NY, where he spent his formative years first through fifth grade. He was actively involved in football, basketball, and baseball. His fascination with technology also took root during this time, mainly through engaging in Lego robotics, which sparked his interest in engineering and problem-solving.

Continuing his education at McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, he immersed himself in the institution’s ethos of nurturing “men for others.” He emerged as a leader on the McQuaid IgKnighters Robotics Team, where he was instrumental in developing the robot’s climbing mechanism. His leadership and engineering skills were highlighted when the team’s 125 lbs. robot lifted itself and two others onto a three-foot platform, earning them the prestigious “Excellence in Engineering” award.

His time at McQuaid also saw him master the CNC Mill, convert digital designs into real-world mechanical parts, and further develop his engineering skills. Additionally, he played a significant role in the school’s theater productions, managing technical aspects of stage setups, which honed his organizational and project management skills.

His commitment to service is evident through his active participation in community initiatives. At the House of Mercy Homeless Shelter, he distributed holiday gifts, providing comfort and joy to those in need. He also supported individuals with limited family networks through his involvement with the St. Joseph of Arimathea Pallbearer Ministry.

At Maplewood Nursing Home, he contributed over 170 hours, building meaningful relationships with residents and learning the importance of intergenerational connections. His commitment extended to his annual participation in the Webster Fireman’s Carnival, supporting local firefighters and enhancing community engagement.

In his professional life, he demonstrated adaptability and excellence at Oak Hill Country Club, managing multiple service areas, including golf carts, the bag room, and the driving range. His involvement in the 2023 PGA Championship gave him valuable insights into the logistics and management of large-scale events. He also worked at Hedges Nine Mile Point Restaurant, where he refined his customer service skills in a fast-paced environment.
